Blackwave provides an integrated infrastructure platform for the storage and delivery of video over IP. Blackwave’s core value proposition is to significantly lower the cost and increase the simplicity of building, scaling and managing the infrastructure required to stream deep libraries of video content to a large, concurrent audience. Blackwave infrastructure significantly reduces both the required Cap-Ex and the ongoing Op-Ex associated with IP video delivery through breakthroughs in the way video data is stored and read from standard disk drives. A system begins with 48TBs of storage coupled with 10Gbps delivery capacity. Both storage and delivery are independently scalable, and the system natively manages video delivery via HTTP, Flash, and WMS protocols through a single web UI. Today, Telcos, CDNs, content aggregators and distributors deploy the Blackwave system for use anywhere from the storage-intensive Origin to distributed nodes at the Edge of their content delivery network. The company brought their first system to market in the US and Asia in February, 2009, and announced their first customer, CDNetworks, shortly thereafter.
